ATTENTION: CHPC Power Upgrade Shutdown on 22 March 2023
Dear CHPC Users
The CHPC is in the process of commissioning a second 1MW onsite generator to address the shortage of onsite power on the CSIR Rosebank, Cape Town, where the CHPC is based. This work is reaching maturity with a cutover and connection of the second generator to important CSIR systems (including the CHPC Data Center) scheduled for Tuesday, 22 March 2023.
This work will require a power shutdown of the CHPC data center on 22 March, from 6:00 – 23:00. During this time the Lengau compute cluster will not be available for use, network connection to the CHPC will be impacted and no jobs will be able to run.
Thank you for your understanding that this work is needed to achieve future stability and reliability of onsite power generation at the CHPC. Please note that the full Langau cluster will not immediately be available after the cut-over work on 22 March, but it will bring us closer to that goal.
