HPC Winter School 2019

Applications are now open.

The 2019 CHPC Winter School will take place from  1 to 6 July 2019 at the Department of Computer Science, University of Pretoria.

The CHPC Winter School is the CHPC's flagship course in high performance computing covering:

  • Fundamental concepts of HPC
  • Introduction to the CHPC cluster environment
  • Workflow to job script
  • GNU parallel for high throughput computing
  • Multi-core programming with OpenMP
  • Domain specific HPC (chemistry, CFD, etc.)
  •  

The 2019 Winter School is linked to the new online course Introduction to High Performance Computing 2019.

Applicants to the Winter School must enrol in the online course and make satisfactory progress by 14 June 2019.

 

The CHPC invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to attend the 2019 HPC school. Its purpose is to introduce South African students to fundamental knowledge of high performance computing techniques.

Should you wish to become one of the participants, please complete the application and evaluation forms at events.chpc.ac.za before 14 June 2019. Successful candidates will be notified from 18 June 2019.

The CHPC calls for all talented students to submit their applications. As a publicly funded institution, the CHPC supports the transformation of South Africa and thus the workshop organisers highly encourage students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds to submit their applications.

Educators

The CHPC Winter School is also open to educators from South African tertiary education institutions who wish to include HPC and parallel programming in their teaching.
