Python course held at the CHPC

An introduction course to Python programming was held at the CHPC, Rosebank during September 2010.
Over 30 participants, originating mostly from the Oceanography Dept., UCT and CSIR attended the 5 day course, which included post-graduate students as well as experienced researchers. They were introduced to the basics of object-oriented python programming. A number of examples illustrating the power of Python were also show-cased. This Python course aimed to introduce a wide range of researchers to the power of python as well as help scientists migrate from Matlab-based programming to open-source Python.
